Ahmet Yalçın Özüekren

Özüekren was born in 1948 in İstanbul. He studied at the Saint Joseph French Boys’ High School. He then received his bachelor's degree at İstanbul Technical University, School of Architecture. In this same institution, he also received his PhD, where he also taught as an assistant and also as a lecturer between 1974 and 1983. In 1983, following his parting from the academy, Özüekren founded Kovuk İnşaat (Kovuk Construction). During his career, he took parts in works ranging from projects and constructions regarding cultural sites that need preservation, to satellite cities, residential projects, offices, industrial sites and fairgrounds.Besides his PhD thesis, he also published various articles about the buildings he designed. Two of his works: Hisar Houses and Four Season Hotel were nominated for Aga Khan Architecture Awards in 1995 and in 1998 respectively.Dr. Ahmet Yalçın Özüekren is a member of the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB), İstanbul Association of Architects in Private Practice (İstanbulSMD) and Turkish Timber Association (UAB).
