Nedret Butler

Tayyibe Nedret Butler graduated from University of Minnesota with B.Arts (Bachelor of Arts) and B.Arch (Bachelor of Architecture) in 1972. In 1976, she received her M.Arch A.S. from MIT’s (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Urban Settlement Design in Developing Countries program. Between 1970 and 1974, Butler worked for an architecture office in Minneapolis. After working in İstanbul between 1976 and 1980, focusing on urbanism, she worked as a faculty member at Iowa State University between 1981-86 and at Mimar Sinan University between 1987-90. In 1988, together with her partner Mark Butler, she founded M&N Butler Architects. Their projects include the design and the restoration project of Üsküdar American High School and Robert College campuses, İnanç High School, Kemer Country and İş Koray Settlement. Owned by the partners, the design and construction of the Sumahan On The Water project was finalized in 2005 and the duo started managing it. In 2021, they became members of Leading Hotels of the World.
