Şebnem Buhara

BOU Design Studio

Şebnem Buhara, born in 1975, is a multidisciplinary designer based in Istanbul and a graduate of Mimar Sinan University Faculty of Architecture. She launched her career by founding BOU Design Studio, establishing a prolific journey that blends architectural integrity with unique elegance.

Her architectural education forms the foundation of her professional identity, from which she has developed a distinctive language in industrial design and art. This interdisciplinary approach has allowed her ideas to materialize across various forms—architecture, design, and sculpture. Refusing to label herself solely as an architect, designer, or sculptor, Buhara believes that creativity can yield diverse answers, from the abstract to the concrete. She sees creativity as a framework that embraces both discipline and the freedom of choice.

Buhara has won numerous international accolades, including prestigious awards such as Edida, IDA, World Travel Awards and ADA. Furthermore, her exclusive collection showcased at the 2024 Maison&Objet Paris fair marked a significant milestone, celebrating 25 years of design excellence. Her works are displayed at Mozaik Design Showroom and Tepta Showroom and have gained international recognition, starting with her first exhibition on Italy's Capri Island and extending to several sculpture exhibitions worldwide.

A member of the Architectural and Urban Research Academy (AURA) and İdealist Asssociation, Şebnem Buhara continues to influence the global design scene. Her architectural mastery, combined with her commitment to creating timeless, elegant, and functional spaces, has solidified her status as an innovator in both architecture and design communities.
